Nevertheless, it can not be characterized as a shared concept by art and architectural in general, but by specific artistic and architectonic statements, which make that notion an important part of their plastic research and action over reality. This paper approaches this question through the work of Álvaro Siza in Porto Alegre, the recently built Iberê Camargo Museum. It aims to recognize the notion of place in Sizas’s work as sustained not so much by the criteria of the cultural narratives, but in terms of a poetical action over space. Key words: Álvaro Siza, place, site-specific art. A ideia de indissociabilidade entre obra e lugar, expressa em certas manifestações artísticas, pode ser assinalada como conceito comum aos territórios sempre próximos da arte e da arquitetura. Entretanto, não se trata de um conceito compartilhado pela arte e arquitetura em geral, mas sim por determinadas propostas artísticas e determinadas propostas arquitetônicas em particular, que fazem dessa noção parte importante de sua pesquisa plástica e de suas ações sobre o mundo. O artigo procura colocar essa questão junto à obra de Álvaro Siza em Porto Alegre, o Museu Iberê Camargo, reivindicando o reconhecimento do lugar na obra de Siza como pautado essencialmente não pelos critérios de um discurso culturalista, mas nos termos de uma ação poética sobre o espaço.
