It is highlighted the importance of heuristic resides, particularly in metaphors in the conceptualization and creation of architecture designs. Thus some references from the texts written by North American architect Frank Lloyd Wright were extracted to verify how the combination of different ideas can motivate emerging creative ideas. Key words: creativity, design process, metaphor, analogy, Frank Lloyd Wright. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar alguns fatores que conduzem à criatividade em arquitetura. A criatividade depende da combinação de conhecimentos, desenvolvimento de habilidades e a adoção de atitudes que permitam enfrentar novos problemas. Destaca-se a importância das heurísticas, particularmente das metáforas, na conceituação e criação de obras de arquitetura. Para tanto foram extraídos alguns trechos dos textos escritos pelo arquiteto norte-americano Frank Lloyd Wright para verificar como a combinação de diferentes ideias pode fazer emergir ideias criativas.
