In this sense, we tried to reflect the scope of criticism in architecture, which, according to the Spanish architect Montaner, should restrict itself to the architectural object. In the opposite direction of thinking narrower, suggested the possibility that it could make criticism of texts that would appear to be far from the field of architecture. Starting from this point, it was thought the literature of the twentieth century as a possibility for the criticism in architecture, expanding its scope and its task. This article does not, however, make a comprehensive survey of this field, which is, admittedly, very broad - its intent is to discuss some issues in the light of relevant theories. Neste texto, pretende-se estabelecer uma relação entre a arquitetura e a literatura, a partir dos domínios da crítica, da história e da teoria, analisando tanto as suas semelhanças quanto as suas diferenças. Nesse sentido, procurou-se refletir sobre o alcance da crítica em arquitetura, a qual, segundo o arquiteto espanhol Montaner (2004), deve restringir-se ao objeto arquitetônico. No sentido inverso a esse pensamento mais restrito, postulou-se a hipótese segundo a qual se pode fazer crítica de textos que, aparentemente, estariam distantes do campo da arquitetura. A partir disso, delimitou-se parte da literatura do século XX como uma possibilidade a mais na elaboração da crítica em arquitetura, ampliando-se, dessa maneira, o seu alcance e a sua tarefa. Este artigo não pretende, todavia, fazer um levantamento exaustivo deste campo, o qual é, reconhecidamente, bastante amplo; sua intenção é discutir algumas questões à luz das teorias pertinentes que foram elencadas.
