The collective recognition of the true essence of these spaces, translated into anarrative that is built on the memory of inhabitants and visitors, opens up the possibility ofmaking these now invisible spaces reappear. Through theoretical research and field study, based on memory, social and imaginary representations of citizens, about a cinema built inthe first half of the 20th century, in the Historic Center of the City of Xalapa, Veracruz, whichremains in the collective memory of citizens, the meanings granted or lost over time areanalyzed to contribute to their rebirth and that of similar spaces, as new detonator spaces oflife. Este artículo plantea la recuperación de los centros históricos a través de la participaciónactiva de la ciudadanía en la configuración de sus espacios, resaltando el valor patrimonial ypotencial como atractivo turístico de edificios actualmente en estado de abandono, quemantienen valores arquitectónicos, históricos y culturales, o potencial para adaptarse a losnuevos contextos en los que se encuentran inmersos, dando nuevos significados a estascentralidades, sin perder sus valores intrínsecos. El reconocimiento colectivo de la verdaderaesencia de estos espacios, traducida a una narrativa que se construye a base de la memoria dehabitantes y visitantes, abre la posibilidad de hacer reaparecer a estos espacios ahorainvisibles. Mediante investigación teórica y estudio de campo, fundamentados en la memoria,representaciones sociales e imaginarios de los ciudadanos, sobre un cine construido en laprimera mitad del siglo XX, en el Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de Xalapa, Veracruz, y quepermanece en la memoria colectiva de la ciudadanía, se analizan los significados otorgadoso perdidos con el paso del tiempo, para contribuir con su renacimiento y el de espaciossimilares, como nuevos espacios detonadores de vida.
