The results were: a) organization of local residents to preserve their expensive buildings; B) the entrepreneurs are interested in remodeling the buildings to destine them to stores; C) the municipal government participates in the restoration and modernization of the built heritage and d) the CHG is visited by travelers from central and western Mexico mainly and by foreigners from the United States of America, Costa Rica, Germany, Chile, Ecuador, France and Guatemala, respectively. The conclusions were: i) the CHG is an experiential tourism site in Mexico; ii) the current use of 20% residential, 50% commercial and 30% tourism; iii) the San Juan de Dios Market is the most visited. El objetivo central fue exponer el uso turístico actual del Centro Histórico de Guadalajara (CHG) por parte de visitantes tanto nacionales como extranjeros en el bienio 2014-2016. La metodología empleada fue de carácter cualitativa y cuantitativa. Los resultados fueron: a) organización de los residentes locales por conservar sus costosas edificaciones; b) los empresarios están interesados en remodelar las edificaciones para destinarlos a comercios; c) el gobierno municipal participa en la restauración y modernización del patrimonio edificado y d) el CHG es visitado por viajeros del centro y occidente de México principalmente y por extranjeros procedentes de Estados Unidos de América, Costa Rica, Alemania, Chile, Ecuador, Francia y Guatemala, respectivamente. Las conclusiones fueron: i) el CHG es un sitio de turismo experiencial en México, ii) el uso actual del suelo 20% residencial, 50% comercial y 30% turístico, iii) el Mercado San Juan de Dios es el más concurrido por los visitantes.
