Over time, it has undergonevarious modifications that correspond to the transformations experienced by the city.Recreational and cultural activities converge there that attest to the social and commercial characteristic of the creation of social spaces stand out.The purpose of this work is explain the characteristics of each of the socio-historical stagesthrough which Carmen has passed, which have allowed it to establish variousrepresentations in the memory of its inhabitants and the ways of life of its population, aswell such as the effects of an urbanization process in the city of Puebla that disrupt 'ElCarmen' through efficient actions of the governmental apparatus. El Carmen es una colonia con relaciones de vecindad barrial, de origen colonial y se ubicaen la zona sur del Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Puebla. A lo largo del tiempo ha sufridodiversas modificaciones que corresponden con las transformaciones experimentadas por laciudad. Ahí confluyen actividades recreativas y culturales que dan fe de la dinámica socialy comercial. En su proceso de formación socioterritorial resaltan las contradicciones queson propias de la creación de los espacios sociales.La finalidad de este trabajo es mostrar las características de cada una de las etapas sociohistóricaspor las que el Carmen ha pasado, las cuales le han permitido establecer diversasrepresentaciones en la memoria de sus habitantes y los modos de vida de su población, asícomo los efectos de un proceso de urbanización de la ciudad de Puebla que trastocan a ‘ElCarmen’ a través de acciones de índole eficientistas del aparato gubernamental.
