In the last twenty years the asymmetries of access to the city and conditions of inequality are accentuated in Latin America. In the global city, urban vulnerability is the result of a development based on an open economy and a state weakened by the functioning of the global market, diminishing or privatizing social benefits. Post-humanism, integration, landscape ecology, urban acupuncture and sustainable development are spatial patterns of organization that serve the natural, territorial and urban dimensions, through the participation of citizens. This paper offers a general panorama of the transformations in the city, identifying rehabilitation alternatives that, through management and social capital at the local level, establish transformative and change actions in the urban environment. The results of the CONAVI-CONACYT research carried out in three cities of Mexico are used. El panorama de la ciudad de la globalización no corresponde al anhelo y búsqueda de progreso de millones de habitantes, los sectores de bajos ingresos ahora se enfrentan a nivel individual o colectivo, a la inseguridad e incertidumbre, en un ambiente de indefensión ante un Estado ineficaz. En los últimos veinte años las asimetrías de acceso a la ciudad y condiciones de desigualdad se acentúan en América Latina. En la ciudad global la vulnerabilidad urbana, es el resultado de un desarrollo basado en una economía abierta y un estado debilitado por el funcionamiento del mercado global, disminuyendo o privatizando los beneficios sociales. El post-humanismo, la integración, la ecología del paisaje, la acupuntura urbana y el desarrollo sostenible son patrones espaciales de organización que sirven a las dimensiones naturales, territoriales y urbanas, que alientan la participación de los ciudadanos. Este trabajo ofrece un panorama general de las transformaciones en la ciudad, identificando alternativas de rehabilitación que, a través de la gestión y el capital social a nivel local, establecen acciones transformadoras y de cambio en el entorno urbano.
