Resumo:The exponential demographic growth of contemporary cities, generates changes in the forms of housing production as a response to solve the urban problem of inhabiting, as a satisfactory of the population. This urban growth represents the main cause of urban expansion for housing production, with the purpose of providing room spaces in the city; this production compromises the Sustainable Regional Development. In the city of Culiacán, housing production occurs in the form of settlement units, which are presented as Popular Colonies (CP), Open Fractions (FA) and Closed Fractions (FC). The new urban forms in the sector of Bachigualato, in the city of Culiacán, have originated in agricultural land of ejidal property, justified by the demand of society and producing housing considered sustainable by ignoring the impacts that are being caused to the environment and compromising the preservation of natural resources reserves.
