En los últimos años, el turismo ha sufrido cambios importantes paralelamente al desarrollo y avance de los medios de comunicación masivos. Históricamente, el turismo ha dejado una huella registrada e impresa en los periódicos, las postales, el cine, la radio, la televisión y el internet, que han impulsado el surgimiento de nuevas identidades, prácticas sociales, formas de actuar, imaginar, habitar, proyectar, pensar, idealizar y modificar la morfología de los espacios turísticos.
