This involves the construction of housing complexes, equipmentand infrastructure, extending its territory towards urban boundaries. This model of urban growthhas become widespread in the country of Mexico, so this work aims to show some of thestrategies that have been carried out for the population of the peripheral areas in each city. Thecity of Culiacán, Sinaloa, is referred to as the object of study. Through an urban diagnosis, thisprocess of urban growth is outlined and a brief description of temporary periods of the role thatdevelopment plans and real estate companies have played to promote the extension of theterritory. In the construction of this work and through systematic observation, we realize thatgradually, the construction of housing by real estate companies prevails in urban boundaries,defining in parallel characteristics promotion for the procurement of housing located in theoutlying areas La industria inmobiliaria ha representado ser el motor de crecimiento económico de las ciudadeslatinoamericanas en los últimos cuarenta años. Esto conlleva la construcción de conjuntoshabitacionales, equipamientos e infraestructuras, extendiendo su territorio hacia los límitesurbanos. Este modelo de crecimiento urbano se ha generalizado en el país de México por lo que,en este trabajo se persigue la finalidad de mostrar algunas de las estrategias que se han llevado acabo para el poblamiento de las zonas periféricas en cada ciudad. Se hace referencia a la ciudadde Culiacán, Sinaloa, como objeto de estudio. Mediante un diagnóstico urbano, se hace unareseña de este proceso de crecimiento urbano y una breve descripción por períodos temporalesdel papel que han jugado los planes de desarrollo y las empresas inmobiliarias para favorecer laextensión del territorio. En la construcción de este trabajo y mediante la observación sistemática,nos percatamos de que gradualmente, predomina la construcción de vivienda por parte de lasempresas inmobiliarias en los límites urbanos, definiendo de manera paralela característicastipológicas, que sirven de promoción para la adquisición de vivienda ubicada en las zonasperiféricas.
