The material most widely distributed worldwide that constitutes it is the carbon fibers, but its high cost discourages the use in the repair of structures in the Argentine market. One of the goals of this research program is to check the possibility of replacing such sheets by fiberglass elements ofArgentinean production and significantly cheaper. The results of the tests demonstrated the feasibility of this alternative. In addition, the increased thickness of the sheets of fiberglass allows the use of additional bolted anchors, which give the system supporting capacity postcritical and ductility, much needed features, for example, for structures in seismic zone. Por medio de este artículo se presenta el estudio que se viene realizando en la Facultad deIngeniería de Rosario, en referencia al uso de láminas pultruídas de Polímeros Reforzados con Fibra de Vidrio (PRFV) para incrementar la resistencia a flexión de vigas de hormigónarmado, siendo dichas láminas unos de los elementos de materiales compuestos más empleados para este tipo de refuerzos. El material de mayor difusión a nivel mundial que lo constituye son las de fibras de carbono, pero su elevado costo desalienta la utilización en lareparación de estructuras en el mercado argentino. Uno de los objetivos de este programa deinvestigación, es comprobar la posibilidad de sustitución de dichas láminas por elementos de fibra de vidrio de fabricación nacional significativamente más económicos. Los resultados obtenidos en los ensayos demostraron la factibilidad de esta alternativa. Además, el mayor espesor de las láminas de fibra de vidrio permite el uso de anclajes adicionales abulonados, que otorgan al sistema capacidad portante post crítica y ductilidad, características muy necesarias, por ejemplo, para las estructuras en zona sísmica.
