The earthen architecture has been present in many native people of the world, it is the most abundant and appreciated material since it provides life with the obtained agricultural products. The red soil applied to the walls of this type of houses is called k’áankab (red soil), making an analogy of the flesh and the color of the body; as well as the use of kololche’ (wooden structure in the Bajareque walls) represents the bones of the human body. In this regard, it is not strange that the soil was the material to build the first houses and that over time they attributed the concepts of their worldview. This knowledge has been lost in the new generations because of discrimination and exclusion, products of internal colonialism, which have cataloged this earthen architecture as an indicator of poverty; however, there is still a progeny of men and women who can reactivate the transmission of construction knowledge to the following generations.   En el presente trabajo se exponen los resultados del estudio sobre la transmisión de saberes constructivos de los mayas, de su casa de huano; en la que los muros y el piso son construidos con las diferentes tierras, maderas, bejucos, y su techumbre es trabajada con la palma de huano, materiales localizados en la región maya de la península de Yucatán. La arquitectura de tierra se ha presentado en muchos pueblos originarios del mundo, es el material más abundante y apreciado, ya que éste provee de vida con los productos agrícolas obtenidos. La tierra roja aplicada en los muros de este tipo de casas es denominada k’áankab (tierra roja), haciendo una analogía que representa la carne y el color del cuerpo; así como el kololche’ (estructura de madera en los muros de bajareque) utilizado representa los huesos del cuerpo humano. Al respecto no es extraño que la tierra fuera el material para construir las primeras viviendas, y que con el tiempo le fueran atribuyendo conceptos propios de su cosmovisión. Estos saberes se han ido perdiendo en las nuevas generaciones debido a que la discriminación y la exclusión, productos de un colonialismo interno, han catalogado a esta arquitectura de tierra como indicador de pobreza; sin embargo, todavía existe una descendencia de hombres y mujeres que pueden reactivar la transmisión de los saberes constructivos a las siguientes generaciones.
