Also, the Franciscans were one of the main beneficiaries of water and they built up hydraulic systems in order to provide water to their convent. This research has in the interest of architecturally understand the technological aspects and constructive solutions that emerged in the New Spain village’s for water use. These points were indispensable in the Tochimilco village ́s for agricultural development, social stability and fairness in the divisions of water from the xvi century. Este artículo tiene el objetivo de explicar los beneficios que tuvo una comunidad al poseer diversas fuentes de abastecimiento de agua. Estos privilegios repercutieron particularmente en la historia y conformación del pueblo de Tochimilco durante los primeros años virreinales, y trascendieron favorablemente en soluciones constructivas encargadas de captar, conducir, distribuir o almacenar el agua para el gozo de sus pobladores. Además, los frailes franciscanos, al ser uno de los principales beneficiarios del vital recurso, implementaron sistemas hidráulicos con el objetivo de suministrar de agua a su convento. Esta investigación surge por el interés de comprender arquitectónicamente los aspectos tecnológicos y las soluciones constructivas que surgieron en los pueblos de doctrina para el óptimo aprovechamiento de agua. Estos matices fueron indispensables en el pueblo de Tochimilco para su desarrollo agrícola, estabilidad social y ecuanimidad en los repartimientos de agua desde el siglo xvi.
