Sumari: | The culture of the architectural restoration in Colombia began to emerge in the second half ofthe twentieth century when the architect Carlos Arbeláez Camacho, professor at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, had established the first courses of the history of Colombian art. In Marchof 1948 the Italian engineer Angiolo Mazzoni Del Grande had arrived in Colombia and at the same University he began before the courses of Composition and Planning and then the courses of history of building and history of architecture. In those years the political and social reality of Colombia was very complex and the culture of modernization had favored the demolition of many historic civil and religious buildings. In 1902 was born the Colombian Academy of History with the aim of protecting the cultural heritage since pre-Hispanic times until the nineteenth century, but it not had an operative value. With reference to these premises the paper intends to analyze the contribution by Angiolo Mazzoni Del Grande as professor at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and as professional engaged in various restoration projects in the city of Bogotá.
