D. thesis entitled Taipa, canela preta, concreto. It details the technical approach applied to the restoration of ‘Casa do Bandeirante’, Sao Paulo city most well known ‘bandeirista’ dwelling. The investigation of the restoration work considers the context of the years 1950, when the state and the city ascended as prominent economies in the national scenery, and when the myth of the ‘bandeirante’ arose. Theorizing the genesis and the architecture of the ‘bandeirista’ house, the architect Luis Saia actively participated in the construction of the ‘bandeirista’ myth. Saia was a pioneer in the definition of criteria applied to the restoration of ‘bandeirista’ houses. Those criteria exercised influence on future generations of architects. O presente artigo é uma síntese de alguns dos temas centrais da nossa tese de Doutoramento Taipa, canela preta, concreto. Esmiuça os aspectos técnicos envolvidos na obra de restauro da Casa do Bandeirante, a morada bandeirista mais conhecida de São Paulo, situando a obra no contexto dos anos 1950, período em que,a cidade e o estado se projetavam no cenário nacional, e quando se fez presente o mito bandeirista. Luís Saia participou ativamente da construção do mito bandeirista, teorizando-o e conceituando a morada bandeirista. Foi pioneiro no estabelecimento dos critérios de restauração de casas bandeiristas, influenciando gerações de profissionais arquitetos restauradores. El presente artículo es una síntesis de algunos de los temas centrales de nuestra tesis de doctorado “Taipa, canela preta, concreto” (Tapia, canela negra, hormigón). Detalla los aspectos técnicos involucrados en la obra de restauro de la “Casa do Bandeirante”, la morada bandeirista más conocida de São Paulo, situando la obra en el contexto de los años 1950, período en el cual la ciudad y el estado se proyectaban en el escenario nacional, y cuando se ha hecho presente el mito bandeirista. Luis Saia participó activamente de la construcción del mito bandeirista, teorizándolo y conceptuando la morada bandeirista. Fué pionero en el establecimiento de los criterios de restauración de casas bandeiristas, influenciando generaciones de profesionales arquitectos restauradores. Universidade de São Paulo.
