Antes de Ramos de Azevedo, foi ele quem dominou completamente, durante certo lapso de tempo, a arquitetura oficial executada na cidade de São Paulo, chegando a atingir, sob esse ponto de vista, a condição de precursor do famoso engenheiro paulista Universidade de São Paulo.
