Summary:The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that by 2050, one out of ten people, that is, more than 900 million worldwide, will have disabling hearing loss. However, existing public and private spaces are hardly prepared to absorb and serve this considerable portion of the population. In order to build an accessible environment, it is necessary to incorporate the concepts of Universal Design from conception, but the literature offers poor support for that. In this context, the purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic literature review to collect and organize information about the particularities of hearing impaired people and thus, to define design guidelines for the construction of inclusive spaces for hearing impaired people. The systematic review was performed according to the preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes (PRIMA) procedure. Initially, 572 articles were found in the database and, after applying the filters, 8 articles were read and included in the systematic review. The quantitative results showed the scarcity of studies on the subject and the qualitative results were compiled in a table that presented the design guidelines suggested by the reviewed articles, according to the five concepts of Deafspace (BAUMAN, 2010). Finally, a summary table was developed to serve as a practical guide in concepting future accessible architectural designs for hearing impaired people.
