| Crynodeb: | The aim of this paper is to analyse the architect's professional practice and the relationship that the production of the architectonic project - meaning the expression of art and technique - holds with the market. The object under analysis consists of statements and interviews of 206 architects selected from 91 issues of AU - Arquitetura e Urbanismo magazine, from 1985 to 2000. This period is particularly significant because these fifteen years witness importance changes, such as the intensification of the social, economic and political phenomenon called globalization and the permeation of information technology, facts which have changed the way in which projects are produced. Within Brazil, this period coincides with the end of the military dictatorship. The main hypothesis is the tension between art, technique and market observed in architectural professional practice since renaissance and which has grown more intense with globalization. This paper is the result of research carried out in my doctoral thesis. |
