Yhteenveto:In his book Urbanismo no Brasil - 1895-1965, Leme (1999) points out the existence of four technical publications in São Paulo between 1905 and 1930: Revista de Engenharia (1879-1884 and 1911-1913); Revista Politécnica (1904-1954); Revista de Engenharia Mackenzie (1915 to the present); and Boletim do Instituto de Engenharia (1917-1941). The current article focuses on the issues of Revista Politécnica between 1905 and 1930 in order to investigate the presence of the United States in the publication, particularly regarding the urbanization process and urban and urbanistic matters. To do so, all existing volumes of this periodical within the period in question were consulted in order to find references to technical production from the United States and references to projects and plans for cities in that nation. This caused the current author to realize, on the one hand, how social actors during that period viewed American experiences and, on the other hand, how this output was absorbed and stoked the discussion on urbanization and the urban situation of São Paulo during that time.
