As refined thought constructions, such projects concentrate topics directly connected with the debate of those years, related with the more consolidated criticism of the Modern Movement. Hejduk's work represents one of the many streams of such criticism, and leads to an unconventional architectonic understanding, promoting displacements in traditional relationships of theory-practice and subject-object. In that way, better than submerge in the poetic world of his many structures, we will try here to find those suggested inflections through Hejduk's proposals for architecture and the city, and their complicity with the Exposition's specific context. O presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar os projetos de John Hejduk para Berlim elaborados no contexto da Exposição Internacional de Edificações - IBA. Como construções refinadas de pensamento, tais projetos aglutinam questões diretamente relacionadas com o debate dos anos 80, caracterizado sobretudo pela crítica mais consolidada ao movimento moderno. O trabalho de Hejduk representa uma das vertentes dessa crítica e remete a um entendimento pouco convencional da arquitetura, efetuando deslocamentos nas relações tradicionais de teoria-prática e sujeito-objeto. Dessa forma, mais que submergir no mundo poético de suas inúmeras estruturas, trataremos de desvelar essas inflexões sugeridas por Hejduk em suas propostas de arquitetura e cidade, e a cumplicidade destas com o contexto específico da exposição.
