The research’s stages presented here refers to the analysis of tools that support decision making and aims to verify the viability of using each one of them during the initial stages of the project. Based on an initial review of the literature, the authors defined four tools (Quality Function Deployment, Analytical Hierarchical Process, Theory of Inventive Problem Solving and Axiomatic Design) to be studied. Then, was a bibliography gathering in proceedings and journals. The positive and negative aspects of using each tool were compiled to finally be analyzed according to the point of view of the architectural design. It was concluded that tools present positive aspects that make them compatible with the process of architectural design, but these need adaptations to be used in the next stages of research. Also, the negative aspects should be considered to minimize the tools’ problems already found. In addiction to a little explored approach in literature – the analysis of tools to support decision making –, this research contributes to the feedback of data from assessments of satisfaction in a systematic way. Este estudo faz parte de uma pesquisa que visa a propor diretrizes que auxiliem os projetistas na geração de valor para os usuários de empreendimentos habitacionais a partir de resultados de avaliações de satisfação. A etapa desta pesquisa aqui apresentada refere-se à análise de ferramentas de apoio à tomada de decisão e tem como objetivo verificar a viabilidade de uso destas durante as fases iniciais do processo de projeto. Baseados numa primeira análise da literatura, os autores definiram quatro ferramentas (o Desdobramento da Função Qualidade, o Processo de Análise Hierárquica, a Teoria de Solução Inventiva de Problemas e o Projeto Axiomático) a serem estudadas. Em seguida, foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico em anais de eventos e periódicos nacionais e internacionais. Os aspectos positivos e negativos de utilização de cada ferramenta foram compilados para, finalmente, serem analisados segundo a ótica do projeto arquitetônico. Concluiu-se que as ferramentas apresentam aspectos positivos que as tornam compatíveis com o processo de projeto arquitetônico, porém estas necessitam de adaptações para que sejam utilizadas nas próximas etapas da pesquisa. Além disto, os aspectos negativos devem ser considerados a fim de que os problemas já encontrados sejam minimizados. Além de apresentar uma abordagem pouco explorada na literatura – a análise de ferramentas de apoio à tomada de decisão –, esta pesquisa contribui para a retroalimentação dos dados oriundos de avaliações de satisfação de uma maneira sistematizada.
