Este ensayo presenta la idea de modernidad desarrollada por AdolfLoos en cuatro textos del comienzo del siglo 20 – Acerca de un pobrehombre rico, Ornamento y delito, Arquitectura y Los superfluos –,poniendo en relieve tres puntos clave de su argumentación: la purezadel arte y de la arquitectura, la libertad de los hombres y el progresode la historia, bien como su relación con las filosofías de ImmanuelKant y de Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel.
