Management of architectural design is essential for delivering design intent and maximising value to a wide range of stakeholders. This has resulted in the rapid growth of design managers working for contractors and greater attention to design management issues within professional consulting firms. This article explores the origins of design management in AEC, provides an overview of the practical application of design management by contractors and professional consultants, and concludes with some thoughts on current trends and future developments. A gestão do processo de projeto no campo da Arquitetura, Engenharia e Construção (AEC) é uma disciplina em rápida evolução, com diversas interpretações e aplicações. A gestão de projetos de arquitetura tornou-se essencial para garantir os objetivos dos projetos e maximizar seu valor para uma ampla gama de partes interessadas, o que resultou em um rápido crescimento da contratação de gestores de projeto pelas empresas de construção e também em uma maior atenção dedicada aos problemas de gestão do processo de projeto dentro das empresas de projeto. Este artigo explora as origens da gestão do processo de projeto no setor de AEC, fornecendo uma visão geral da sua aplicação prática por empresas de construção e profissionais de gestão, e conclui com algumas reflexões sobre as tendências atuais e futuros desenvolvimentos.
