| Sammanfattning: | Target costing (TC) is an approach that has its origins in the manufacturingindustry that aims to provide cost savings without reducing the quality and value of theproduct to the customer’s eyes and has been used in the construction industry in variouscountries. One aspect relevant to its implementation in construction industry is the quality ofinformation and interaction of the teams in the early stages of a project. The use of BuildingInformation Modeling (BIM) allows the extraction of information quickly and accurately atthe beginning of the project design, for instance, quantities and costs estimation. The paperaims to describe the synergy between TC and BIM, pointing out the positive aspects offeredby this union. This is a secondary study using literature review of primary studies on TC andBIM to synthesize the results and to explore a possible synergy integrating both approaches.The results show the positive aspects of joint use. The findings point to several benefits andstrategies for this synergy to occur, such as automatic quantification, stimulating creativity,assessment of cost alternatives and the integration of the teams in new forms of employment. |
