The purpose of this paper is to analyze in a comparative way (habitat of destination/habitat of origin) the related projects in the Andean city of Manizales with a multidimensional vision, through the concepts of habitat, vulnerability, development and sustainability, relying on the implementation of about 600 surveys with the resettled people and interviews with those responsible for the local administration in charge of the resettlement programs. The aim of the study is to reach the construction of a method that, from indicators, optimizes the processes of resettlement or urban reform more generally. Ante la vulnerabilidad de las poblaciones urbanas expuestas a amenazas naturales, los municipios colombianos tienen la obligación de plantear soluciones, entre otras, a través de procesos de reasentamiento que consisten en que la comunidad vulnerable adquiera un lugar de vida nuevo o “usado”, en un sitio seguro desde el punto de vista físico-natural. El propósito del presente escrito consiste en analizar de manera comparativa el hábitat de destino y el hábitat de origen en proyectos propuestos en la ciudad andina de Manizales, Colombia, con una visión multidimensional, a la luz de los conceptos de hábitat, vulnerabilidad, desarrollo y sostenibilidad, y apoyados en los resultados de cerca de seiscientas encuestas hechas a la población reasentada y en entrevistas con los responsables de la administración local a cargo de los programas de reasentamiento. El fin del estudio es llegar, a partir de indicadores, a la construcción de un método tal que permita optimizar los procesos de reasentamiento o de reforma urbana, de manera más general.
