In the first, it is relevant the appropriation created by the social actors motivated by the logic of the need, while in the second point predominates the political-state logic in the determination and transformation of the urban space in the context of the advanced capitalism. It takes as an empiric reference of the public space of Medellín city both in its historical background and in its transcendence in the public policies. As a work case to analyze such contradiction, the Popular Bazaars Program is studied as an alternative to recover the public space downtown. Este artículo se centra en el análisis de la conflictividad urbana resultado de la apropiación y producción del espacio público, cuya expresión está dada por la permanente contradicción entre el espacio usado, practicado, y el espacio ideado, planeado. En el primero es relevante la apropiación por parte de actores sociales movidos por la lógica de la necesidad; mientras que en el segundo predomina la lógica político-estatal en la determinación y transformación del espacio urbano en el contexto del capitalismo avanzado. Toma como referencia empírica el espacio público de la ciudad de Medellín, tanto en su configuración histórica como en su trascendencia en las políticas públicas. Como estudio de caso, para analizar dicha contradicción, se estudia el Programa de Reubicación de Ventas Callejeras: Proyecto de Bazares Populares como alternativa para recuperar el espacio público en el centro de la ciudad.
