This made possible to know peasant communities from the Urban Edge and Protected Areas who propose the social control of territory and sustainability as major themes. The weaknesses in community projects and the non-recognition of alternative technologies in the housing subsidy policies create a need for support that academic and institutionality can provide. Al tomar la pasantía como opción de grado, se entró a apoyar el proyecto Vivienda Campesina Productiva y Saludable de la Secretaría Distrital de Desarrollo Económico –SDDE–. Se trabajó en Usme y Sumapaz haciendo propuestas para la construcción y el mejoramiento de viviendas, incluyendo espacios productivos alternativos. Esto permitió conocer comunidades campesinas de borde urbano y de áreas protegidas, en las se que plantean, como temas principales, el control social del territorio y la sostenibilidad. Las falencias en los proyectos comunitarios y la falta de reconocimiento de tecnologías alternativas en las políticas de subsidio de vivienda generan una necesidad de apoyo que la academia y la institucionalidad pueden satisfacer.
