Izvleček:This article offers a brief analysis of the relationship between civil society and the State in regards to the environmental conflict surrounding the wetlands of Córdoba in Bogotá, Colombia. Approaching the conflict as an opportunity to resolve social and political tensions, the article examines the transformation of the environmental and political conflict within the context of the city’s modernization, in order to identify constructive aspects that contribute to ongoing urban transformation. Through an analysis of the actions undertaken by civil society and the State within the public sphere, this article illustrates the evolution of power within the territory, along with the breadth of causes that provide the basis for these transformations, while offering a new perspective for approaching environmental conflicts. This point of view includes recognition of the positive contributions that generally go unrecognized within traditional interpretations of environmental disputes.
