Approaching the conflict as an opportunity to resolve social and political tensions, the article examines the transformation of the environmental and political conflict within the context of the city’s modernization, in order to identify constructive aspects that contribute to ongoing urban transformation. Through an analysis of the actions undertaken by civil society and the State within the public sphere, this article illustrates the evolution of power within the territory, along with the breadth of causes that provide the basis for these transformations, while offering a new perspective for approaching environmental conflicts. This point of view includes recognition of the positive contributions that generally go unrecognized within traditional interpretations of environmental disputes. El artículo realiza un breve análisis de las relaciones entre la sociedad civil y el Estado inscritas en el conflicto ambiental del humedal de Córdoba en Bogotá (Colombia). Comprendiendo que los conflictos son oportunidades de resolución de tensiones sociales y políticas, examina la transformación del conflicto político ambiental en el marco del proceso de modernización de la ciudad, para identificar aspectos constructivos que aportan al ajuste y renovación del mismo. La revisión de las actuaciones en el ámbito público constituye la estrategia metodológica utilizada para dar cuenta de las transformaciones en las relaciones de poder sobre el territorio y de la profundidad de los fundamentos que les dieron origen. Al mismo tiempo propone una nueva perspectiva de aproximación a los conflictos ambientales. Desde este punto de vista, se incluye el reconocimiento de aquellos aspectos positivos que han pasado desapercibidos en su tradicional lectura de las disputas ambientales.
