Inasmuch the reflections regarding these fields have been subject to the architects, city planners, economists and loan entities view, it is crucial to assume a position from the Urban Design over the meaning of construction of a periphery city, to keep suitable conditions of habitability and sustainability for its inhabitants. Este documento analiza las implicaciones para el Diseño Urbano y la ciudad de la reciente determinación del MAVDT de reducir el área de la VIS a 35 m2. Como quiera que las reflexiones en torno a estos campos han estado dominadas por las miradas de arquitectos, planificadores, economistas y entidades de crédito, es indispensable la toma de partido del Diseño Urbano sobre lo que puede significar la construcción de una ciudad de periferia para mantener condiciones idóneas de habitabilidad y sostenibilidad para sus habitantes.
