In Venezuela, he considers the case of Caracas city and its closest regional system. El texto considera la relación histórica entre la ciudad y el campo en la historia para proponer una relación futura que sea coherente con las necesidades de las ciudades latinoamericanas, y el aun no definido rol del campo, en el porvenir de las naciones. El autor llama la atención sobre el hecho de que las ciudades crecen desmesuradamente, sin control y sin prevención sobre el impacto en el ambiente, poniendo en riesgo la sostenibilidad de la relación ciudad-campo. Examina en Venezuela, el caso de la ciudad de Caracas y el sistema de ciudades regional más próximo.
