description This study examines the magnitude and spatial characteristics of socioeconomic residential segregation –SRS– of the Santa Fe Metropolitan Area –AGSF– at the beginning of 21st century. It also establishes relationships between these aspects and the social and spatial transformations experienced currently. With that aim, two indicators are extracted from the National Population and Housing Census (INDEC, 2001); in order to identify two groups representing different socio-economic sectors. It is concluded that groups with different employment status and educational level reside in specific and opposite areas, exposing both "segregation by group location" as "macro-segregation". In turn, the results indicate that fractions census inhabited mainly by the group whose members have lower employment status and low education levels, presented greater degree of social homogeneity, exposing "exclusion segregation".

This study examines the magnitude and spatial characteristics of socioeconomic residential segregation –SRS– of the Santa Fe Metropolitan Area –AGSF– at the beginning of 21st century.
