Resumo:The article analyzes some of the papers presented during the First Congress of National Improvements in 1917, as well as the written document belonging to “Bogotá Futuro”, an expansion plan approved in 1925, in the light of internationally disseminated ideas of the time. It argues that the plan is based largely on the interpretations Ricardo Olano and Enrique Ramirez made of Nelson P. Lewis’s and Camilo Sitte’s ideas and concludes that, although the urban layout of “Bogotá Futuro” was not executed, its construction byelaws left a major impact on the city.
