description This article gathers the most relevant issues of an investigation on Independent Design in Bogota and exposes certain appreciations of independence as a place of subjective enunciation that motivated new processes of singularization in response to the hegemonic and institutionalized forms of social life. My interest in this subject was derived from the indefinite and unstable character of independence and from perceiving seductive definitions there of the ways of being a designer and design that conquered more and more adepts in the occupational field: young professionals convinced of wanting to be their own boss, to work without schedules, to live with a passion and to be absolutely responsible for its outcome. In the name of independence, these subjects activated a productive and valuable model that provoked tensions and disagreements with institutionalized forms of action and, in turn, led them to fight tirelessly for attention and recognition.

In the name of independence, these subjects activated a productive and valuable model that provoked tensions and disagreements with institutionalized forms of action and, in turn, led them to fight tirelessly for attention and recognition.  El presente artículo recoge cuestiones generales de una investigación sobre el diseño independiente en Bogotá y expone ciertas apreciaciones de la independencia como un lugar de enunciación subjetivo que motivó nuevos procesos de singularización en respuesta a las formas hegemónicas e institucionalizadas de la vida social. Mi interés por esa temática se derivó del carácter tanto indefinido como inestable de la independencia y de percibir allí definiciones seductoras de los modos de ser diseñador y hacer diseño que conquistaban cada vez más adeptos en el ámbito ocupacional: jóvenes profesionales convencidos de querer ser su propio jefe, de trabajar sin horarios, de vivir de una pasión y de ser absolutamente responsables de su desenlace. En nombre de la independencia estos sujetos activaban un modelo productivo y de valor que provocaba tensiones y desencuentros con formas de acción institucionalizadas y que, a su vez, los llevaba a luchar incansablemente por recibir atención y reconocimiento. O presente artigo reúne questões gerais de uma investigação sobre o desenho independente em Bogotá e evidencia certas apreciações da independência como um lugar de enunciação subjetivo que promoveu novos processos de singularização em resposta às posturas hegemônicas e institucionalizadas da vida social. Meu interesse por este assunto foi derivado do caráter indefinido e instável da independência e da percepção de definições sedutoras sobre os modos de ser desenhador e fazer desenho que conquistavam cada vez mais seguidores no campo ocupacional: jovens profissionais convencidos de querer serem seus próprios chefes, para trabalhar sem horários, viver com paixão e ser absolutamente responsáveis pelo seu desfecho. Em nome da independência, esses sujeitos ativaram um modelo produtivo e valioso que provocou tensões e desentendimentos com jeitos de ação institucionalizados e, por sua vez, levou-os a lutar incansavelmente por atenção e reconhecimento.
