Description
Summary:The present reflection research is a theoretical analysis about urban sustainability and urban ecology political. The development of this article explores how urban sustainability and urban political ecology assume the dialectic of nature/urbanism as a central element in its propositions and also it analyses which are the radical differences that are conceived from their respective theoretical bases. In addition, it discusses the global visions that promote urban sustainability and it proposes approaches from urban political ecology, as a possible route for an urban analysis in Latin America. In conclusion, it is proposed to overcome the theoretical approaches of global urban sustainability, by approaches that assume the nature/urbanism processes as co-constituted constructions, in complex and dynamic environments, where multi-scalar (local, national, Regional and global) analysis prevail about the social, economic, political and ecological procedures of Latin American’s current urban landscapes.
