description This article presents the narrated city in Colombian urban literature through the work of Andrés Caicedo and Rafael Chaparro Madiedo. The path traveled is a process by which is sought to show literature as a capable instrument to reveal by itself the city and to discover the fabric of its wefts, its daily histories and its daily becoming. The narrative voices present in the literature of Caicedo and Chaparro are taken as an instrument of analysis to reveal from them an approximation to the urban phenomena manifested in Cali and Bogota respectively. The references of their characters will constitute the fundamental basis to address the signs and symbols that explain the ways of living in a singular experience with the city.

El camino recorrido es un proceso por el cual se busca mostrar la literatura como un instrumento capaz de revelar por sí mismo la ciudad y de descubrir el tejido de sus tramas, sus historias cotidianas y su diario devenir. Se toma como instrumento de análisis las voces narrativas presentes en la literatura de Caicedo y Chaparro para revelar desde ellas una aproximación a los fenómenos urbanos manifestados en Cali y Bogotá, respectivamente. Las referencias de sus personajes constituirán la base fundamen- tal para abordar los signos y símbolos que explican los modos de habitar en una experiencia singular con la ciudad.  Neste trabalho é apresentada a cidade narrada na literatura urbana colombiana através da obra de Andres Caicedo e Rafael Chaparro. O caminho percorrido é um processo que procura mostrar à literatura como um instrumento que consegue mostrar a cidade, suas historias cotidianas, seus acontecimentos e seu dia a dia. O instrumento usado para analisar a aproximação dos fenômenos urbanos que acontecem em Cali e Bogotá são as vozes narrativas presentes na literatura de Caicedo e Chaparro.
