Resumo:This article draws on the National Athletic Games of 1941 made in Bucaramanga and seeks to show how some leaders and members of municipal, departmental administration and locals newspapers extolled this event as the element capable of promoting progress, develop the city, as they say, it had happened in other cities that had organized the event. However, with the passage of time, the lack of administrative and organizational did not stop the games, although this did not prevent the games take place was not possible to achieve than thought to start, carry out a process of urban modernization in the city.
