| Zusammenfassung: | The traditional urbanism developed in Latin American cities is an exclusionary urbanism. Generally, only the opinion of professionals and those sectors of government with decision-making power is taken into account, suppressing the population and other stakeholder’s opinion when designing urban projects. Through a literature review, the present work seeks to expose the differences between the two ways of conceiving an urban design: i) without participation or ii) with participation, highlighting citizen participation within urban design as a way of resulting public space appropriation, thesis that argues the need for this participation to occur from the earliest stage of the project, taking into account that the community is the final user and who knows better their lacks and needs to include in the creation of the spaces they inhabit. |
