It was made a several field experiments to improve the resistance of this important material by associating bers of plant origin, such as: paramo straw, coconut fiber, cabuya, abaca, wood saw dust, rice husk, among other materials. As part of the dissemination of the rst ndings, two pre- vious publications have been made for rst stage of research, one entitled “Study of stabilizers in adobe” and “Improvement of Adobe with Vegetable Fibers: Straw, Cabuya, Rice husk, Abacá ” which contemplated the empirical exploration in the use of materials in traditional buildings in the center of Guaranda. In many of the surrounding houses of the archaeological remains, they used rocks from the ancestral constructions to make the foundations of their houses, damaging the original heritage of Chimbo. So this article is the result of the second stage, series of alternative proposals for sustainability, in which land uses are subject to a contemporary rearrangement that allows the subsistence of heritage structures, but always retaining the original physical materiality.  En septiembre del año 2015, un equipo de docentes de la Universidad Central del Ecuador inicia la investigación sobre las potencialidades de las construcciones en tierra, entre ellas del adobe, y se logró hacer varios experimentos de campo para mejorar la resistencia de este importante material asociándole fibras de origen vegetal, tales como paja de páramo, fibra de coco, cabuya, abacá, aserrín de madera, cascara de arroz, entre otros materiales. Como parte de la difusión de los primeros hallazgos se han realizado dos publica- ciones previas como resultado de una primera etapa de investigación, una titulada “Estudio de estabilizadores en el adobe” y “Mejoramiento del adobe con bras vegetales: paja, cabuya, cascara de arroz, abacá”, que abarcaron la exploración empírica en el empleo de los materiales en edicaciones tradicionales del centro de Guaranda. En muchas de las viviendas aledañas de los vestigios arqueológicos, estas emplearon rocas de las construcciones ancestrales para realizar los cimientos de sus casas, con el daño al patrimonio original de los Chimbos; en este artículo, resultado de la segunda etapa, se plantean propuestas alternativas de sostenibilidad, en que los usos del suelo sean sujetos de un reordenamiento contemporáneo que permita la subsistencia de las estructuras patrimoniales, pero conservando siempre la materialidad física original. Se incluye la revisión del marco legal aplicable y vigente que no limita esta adaptación, lo que pone en riesgo el patrimonio edificado, porque su uso está restringido y los propietarios no pueden mantener la edificación por los gastos que implica.
