Summary: | Studies on quality of life and social well-being in cities of developing and developed countries are becoming an important tool for policy evaluation, place quali cation, management and urban planning. Analyzing societies’ well-being and quality of life means analyzing subjective experiences of individuals, which requires knowing how sub- jects live, their objective conditions of existence, their reported desire expectation of transformation, and evaluating achieved satisfaction degree (Rueda, 1996). Therefore, the objective of this paper is to present an applicable methodology to any Latin American city, allowing to evaluate relationships between urban design and impact on quality of life and social well-being within a given city district. The results exhibit subjective responses through the perceptions of users, which approach understanding a unique reality and insights for each neighborhood. Using these methods would allow knowing the communities’ situation according to their housing urban typology, as well as social, temporal and urban context that directly intervenes on well-being and people (neighbors) participation. Hence, the study’s results could be applied to housing development prospections, urban design and improvements of existing city districts. |
