It also presents some characteristics and uses of mineral clay as a mortar ingredient. It discusses other methods proposed to dose mortar and supports the use of weight proportions for wall and ceiling rendering mortar, instead of volume proportion, which is traditionally used at construction sites. It presents the basic parameters and procedures used to determine the proportion for mortar containing clay minerals. It determines cement usage based on mortar utilization; it calculates the proportions of mortars according to the amount of fines; and determines water proportion based on clay characteristics. Based on this data, it determines the trace and describes the adjustments after the experimental mixture. Finally, it suggests a method to relate the dry weight of the materials obtained from the weight proportion to the humid volumes measured at construction sites. It presents results of mortar tests containing several types of clays from three different regions dosed by the method proposed on this paper, comparing the values obtained with those from a reference mortar. It also discusses the use of other additions. It concludes by inviting the scientific community to use the proposed method and to contribute to the establishment of an optimised dosage methodology for rendering mortars.

Este trabalho apresenta uma proposta de método de dosagem racional para as argamassas de assentamento e revestimento de paredes e tetos desenvolvido no CETA – Centro Tecnológico da Argamassa, especialmente para as argamassas que contêm adições argilosas, empregadas na RMS – Região Metropolitana de Salvador. Faz algumas considerações sobre as características e o uso de argilominerais como material constituinte da argamassa. Comenta outros métodos de dosagem de argamassa propostos e defende a adoção de traço em massa para as argamassas de assentamento e revestimento de paredes e tetos, ao invés de traço em volume, como habitualmente tem sido utilizado nas diversas obras. Apresenta os parâmetros básicos e o procedimento para formulação de traços de argamassa contendo argilominerais. Em função do uso da argamassa, adota um consumo de cimento; em função do teor de finos dos agregados, calcula suas proporções; e determina experimentalmente o teor de água em função de características das adições argilosas . Com estes dados, formula o traço e trata do seu ajuste, após a mistura experimental. Por último, indica uma forma de relacionar as massas secas dos materiais, obtidas no traço em massa, aos volumes úmidos a serem medidos no canteiro de obra. Apresenta resultados de ensaios de argamassas contendo diversos tipos de adições argilosas e de três diferentes regiões dosadas pelo método aqui proposto, comparando os valores obtidos com os de uma argamassa mista de referência. Comenta sobre o uso de outras adições. Conclui, convidando a comunidade científica a usar o método de dosagem proposto e contribuir para que se possa estabelecer uma metodologia racional para dosagem das argamassas de assentamento e revestimento.
