Its main core is the compatibility between this and other subsystems design. The second focus of this structure, as suggested by the practitioners from the industry, was to satisfy the need for an information system, which could help in the design inception phase, and not simply in the process rationalisation, production of drawings, and production of the bill of materials. A process flowchart is proposed which contains several databases that the designer should possess. The development of Database B2 (Materials, Equipments and Components) was taken as starting point. This article presents the concepts involved in the design of this database as well as describes its the current stage of development. A partir de um estudo prévio sobre empresas envolvidas nos processos de projeto e execução de sistemas hidráulicos prediais, foi desenvolvida a estrutura de um sistema de informação visando à melhoria da qualidade da etapa de projeto, tendo como núcleo principal a compatibilização entre os projetos dos SHP e os projetos dos outros subsistemas. O segundo enfoque da estrutura foi satisfazer a necessidade, apontada por profissionais do setor, da existência de um sistema de informação que auxiliasse o projetista na fase de concepção do projeto e não simplesmente na racionalização do processo, apresentação do projeto e produção da listagem de materiais. No fluxograma de atividades e informações proposto aparecem diversos bancos de dados que o projetista deveria possuir. Tomou-se como ponto de partida o desenvolvimento do Banco de Dados B2 (Materiais, Equipamentos e Componentes). O presente artigo apresenta os conceitos envolvidos na concepção deste banco de dados, assim como o seu estágio atual de desenvolvimento.
