Sumario:This work aims to systematically assess opportunities to apply Lean Thinking to the construction sector, and to compare the potential of introducing principles and tools with approaches proposed in previous studies. This analysis begins with a literature review on Lean Thinking principles and core elements as a support to understand the correct application of existing tools. Potential application is examined by crossing lean core elements with each construction flow: business, design, job site, supply, use and maintenance. Existing studies are analysed within the same framework. The paper concludes by pointing out major opportunities yet unexplored, indicating that this approach is useful to identify gaps in research and applications, as well as understand the use of tools in a broader context, supporting the adaptation of Lean Thinking to construction.
