These settlements were built collectively by the dwellers themselves in the 1990s, one of them as a non-profit self-managed cooperative, and the other one promoted by the municipality. This study emphasized the social efficacy of users’ participation in house-building, in terms of a comparative assessment of the organizacionalbehavioral diagnosis, by considering the similarities and differences, as well as the positive and negative points of self-built housing as a form of provision for peripheral urban population. As a conclusion, the comparative results of social efficacy and organizational efficacy of these alternatives in the current socioeconomic context are presented.
