The French case, marked by the creation of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris at the beginning of the 19th century, is an important case of study, since, during the existence of the Architecture section of the École (suppressed in 1968, after almost a century and a half of existence), the pedagogical experiences of this institution were promoted as a model that was progressively adapted in schools of architecture worldwide. The article analyses the concept of atelier and its central position in the institutional and pedagogical structure on which the French system was built.

El caso francés, marcado por la creación de la École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, a principios del siglo XIX, constituye un caso de estudio fundamental por cuanto durante la existencia de la sección de Arquitectura de la École (suprimida en I968, después de casi siglo y medio de existencia), las experiencias pedagógicas de dicha institución se erigieron como modelos que progresivamente fueron adaptados en escuelas de arquitectura de todo el mundo. El artículo analiza el concepto de atelier y su posición central en el seno de la estructura institucional y pedagógica sobre la cual se levantó el sistema beauxartiano. Létude de certains aspects issus ou liés à l'histoire de l'enseignement de l'architecture ainsi que de l'urbanisme et des arts décoratifs, a suscité un intérêt renouvelé chez les historiens de l'architecture, notamment en ce qui concerne la matérialité de la culture architecturale produite et diffusée depuis le XIXe siècle, qui nous permet aujourd'hui de comprendre les évolutions et dynamiques propres aux processus de transmission des connaissances architectures, pendant diverses époques. L'analyse des expériences pédagogiques développées au sein de la section d'Architecture de l'École des Beaux-Arts de Paris (créée au début du XIXe siècle) constitue un enjeu fondamental : ces expériences sont devenues au fil des années de véritables modeles adoptés au sein de nombreuses écoles d'architecture dans le monde. Cet article porte sur le concept d'atelier et son importance au centre d'une structure institutionnelle et pédagogique sur laquelle s'est développé le « système Beaux-Arts ». Entre os historiadores da arquitetura, o estudo de diversos aspectos provenientes ou conectados com a história do ensino da arquitetura, do urbanismo e das artes decorativas tem despertado um renovado interesse, especialmente sob a perspectiva da materialidade de uma ampla cultura arquitetônica gerada e difundida a partir do século XIX, e pela qual podem ser compreendidas hoje evoluções e dinâmicas inerentes à transmissão do conhecimento arquitetônico durante muitas épocas. O caso francês, marcado pela criação da École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, no início do século XIX, constitui um caso de estudo fundamental porque, durante a existência da seção de Arquitetura da École (suprimida em I968, depois de quase um século e meio de existência), as experiências pedagógicas dessa instituição foram instituídas como modelos que progressivamente foram adotados em escolas de arquitetura do mundo inteiro.
