To this end, the analysis of the culture-city relationship should be carried out from the point of view of: the human factor and the inherited culture.In contemporary architecture, it is possible to perceive a deterioration and at the same time a regression due to the proliferation of unaesthetic elements. This phenomenon also raises a question derived from the fact that people see popular culture as constitutive of their own tradition, so that the dilemma lies in defining what it really is--is it "neoeclecticism", vernacular architecture or kitsch?By means of a historical-architectural and social approach, which relies on the use of the exploratory observation method, the phenomenon is investigated to understand the term "vernacular" in its relationship with culture, and thus identify viable alternatives to address the current problem. La arquitectura vernácula es considerada una importante manifestación de la cultura, sin esta claridad no es posible brindar aportes que garanticen su continuidad en el contexto actual. Para ello el análisis de la relación cultura-ciudad debe realizarse desde el factor humano y desde la cultura heredada.En la arquitectura contemporánea es posible apreciar un deterioro y, a la vez, un retroceso por la proliferación de elementos carentes de estética. Este fenómeno abre una interrogante derivada también del hecho de que el pueblo considera a la cultura popular como propia y constitutiva de su tradición, de modo que el dilema radica en definir de qué se trata, en realidad, ¿de "neoeclecticismo", arquitectura vernácula o kitsch?Mediante un abordaje histórico-arquitectónico y social, que se apoya en el empleo del método de la observación exploratoria, se indaga en el fenómeno para comprender el término "vernáculo", en su relación con la cultura y, de esa manera, identificar alternativas viables para afrontar la problemática actual.
