Περίληψη:This essay revisits the most important surveys of global architecture published in English to argue that before the 21st century the Americas were just an afterthought. This situation has changed with the recent survey books written by Ching, Jarzombek & Prakash (2007), James-Chakraborty (2014) and Ingersoll (2018), but we still need a better assessment of how the European occupation of the Americas influenced the histories and theories of architecture as we know them.
