Özet:This essay introduces the notions of ‘transparency’ and ‘virtuality’ as key concepts of twentieth century architectural theory and examines their influence on art and technology. Specifically this article reviews the definitions of transparency from the work of Colin Rowe and Robert Slutzky; Arthur Korn; Paul Scheebart and Bruno Taut to the idea of virtuality through the thoughts of Paul Virilio, Bernard Tschumi and Jean Nouvel. Transparency and virtuality are an aspiration of this time and are associated ideas with a meta-attributes of architecture: the “State of Disappearance” of architecture.
