The research determines some conditions in order that this tourist attraction propitiates territorial development and the local integration. Attention is given to the complex relationship between cultural tourism and territorial development, and analysis is made of the level of success as a tourist structure, and the capacities and limitations. This is so that this becomes a project where the generated wealth is transferred to the local population in the form of better services and improved well-being. There is an increase in the local aptitude for autonomy, and utilization collective is guaranteed, and regulated by the local population. El Puente de Boyacá, hito histórico de la independencia bolivariana, declarado monumento nacional y pretexto de varias iniciativas de regionalización en Boyacá, constituye el área de estudio de esta investigación que indaga por los efectos generados por este atractivo turístico-cultural sobre el desarrollo local, y que busca establecer algunas condiciones para que este atractivo turístico propicie el desarrollo territorial y la integración local. Para ello centra su atención en la compleja relación entre turismo cultural y desarrollo territorial, en la cual se analiza su grado de éxito como estructura turística y las capacidades y limitaciones para que se configure como un proyecto donde la riqueza generada es transferida a la población local en mejores servicios y bienestar, se incremente la capacidad local para decidir autónomamente y se garantice un aprovechamiento colectivo y regulado por la población local de los recursos naturales y escénicos.
