Description
Summary:The research studies the set of local technical knowledge associated with the existing water features in a settlement of the Andes mountain range representative of the Andean cultural landscape. Through the analysis of Socoroma, in northern Chile, the local technological strategies for the balanced use of the available water ow are exposed, in the face of scarcity events or excesses of the resource, while supporting a social and cultural system that gives form to a habit intimately linked to the environment. The analysis of these hydraulic spaces enables the understanding of the local manifestations to organize, construct and inhabit a territory in function of the adaptation to the environment, as well as its transformation into models of future intervention, applicable in both rural and urban areas.
